One day I’ll be back in Portland, and this will be in my mouth.

MVRDV recently designed the Water Cube pavilion for the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu, Korea. The structure is designed to express the power and beauty of the oceans, and is composed of water filled basins, which act as both a temperature buffer as well as the main attraction. A bit like being inside an aquarium, the hollow inner sanctum will be lit with water-filtered light.

This is truly astounding! Quite possibly the most astonishing archeological find of modern time, which essentially rewrites the timeline of civilization. An advanced civilization, artifacts extremely well-preserved, 12,000 years old…four thousand years before “The Cradle of Civilization”. Eight thousand years before the biblical “start of time”. It predates Stonehenge and the pyramids by thousands of years but demonstrates a higher level of craftsmanship. An advanced civilization that just emerged “fully formed” from the last ice age.
